Burnout and Compassion Fatigue
Space for YOU.
Burnout and compassion fatigue are significant on-the-job hazards for healthcare professionals and a misunderstood epidemic in our culture. With taxing demands and limited resources in a workplace it can be difficult to guard and maintain space for your own wellbeing. If you're feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, it’s no surprise, and not your fault — these are often the first signs of burnout.
When experiencing burnout, it can feel like there is no time or space left to care for yourself.
Individual focus on self-care and problem solving are not enough, occupational burnout is a systemic problem that calls for organizational reform. It is not solely for the individual to address.
I offer support to help individuals understand mismatches between their goals as a worker and their workplace, as well as managing symptoms of burnout in a realistic context, so that you can reconnect and continue doing work you are passionate about.
Approach
Counseling approaches are like paths in a forest, not every path is suitable or desirable for every person. It’s part of my role as a counselor to help guide us on the path that best aligns with your specific values and goals.
I use an integrated or eclectic approach and draw from techniques and theoretical frameworks from a variety of therapeutic modalities. Below is a list of the modalities I have been trained in and most commonly utilize.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Trauma-Informed Care
Family Systems Therapy
Neurodivergent Affirming Care/Paradigm

FAQs
-
Art therapy is a mental health profession and art therapists are credentialed mental health professionals trained in a the use of a wide range of psychological theory and practice. Art therapy improves the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities by using active art-making, creative processes, psychological principles, within the therapeutic relationship. You don’t have to have any particular art experience or expertise to participate in art therapy and minimal materials are required. For those clients interested in working with more than a paper/pen or pencil I am happy to provide a materials starter kit.

My experience includes work in community based mental health care settings working with adults, adolescents, children and facilitating groups. I am a sex positive and LGBTQI+ supporting and neurodivergent affirming clinician. I have specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and often integrate principles from DBT, working with my clients to create space in their lives for both change and acceptance.
I recognize that mental health care is not separate or immune from racist systems and potentially harmful power dynamics. I am committed to identifying, addressing and dismantling those aspects within myself and within my control as a private health care practitioner and community member.
